The Second Viscount Hardinge, of South Park;
With Spink, London;
Anon. sale, Christie's, London, 9 July, 1991, lot 71.
Both the first and second Viscounts Hardinge were friends of Landseer. In his last years the artist spent a great deal of time at their home South Park near Tunbridge Wells. The delicate ink sketches are a rather humorous symbolism of England's long-running rivalry with France at the time.
