This is an extensive view of the entrance to Port of Spain, Trinidad showing the bustling off-shore anchorage. In 1893 Wyllie and his wife cruised to the West Indies on the Orient Line ‘Garonne’ which halted at Trinidad. The ship in the centre of the work being escorted into port by tugs is most likely the 3,876 ton Garonne, built in 1871 and transferred to Orient Line in 1877. She was eventually sold in 1897 to F. Waterhouse in Seattle to work for the Alaska gold-rush trade.
