Paul Augustinus was born in Denmark in 1952. He grew up and went to school in Kenya, Tanzania, and Zimbabwe. He obtained a degree in geology and worked for one year in that profession before becoming a full time artist based in the wilds of Botswana. He has spent 15 of the last 28 years in the field, under canvas, in his own studios and camps situated in some of Africa’s last remaining bastions of wildlife and wilderness. This includes three years in the Kaokoveldt in Namibia and eight months in the rainforests of Equatorial Africa. He has also travelled extensively in North America, Asia, and Europe in the pursuit of material for his wildlife paintings.
