Beatrice Forshall grew up in France and Spain, spending most of her childhood in Catalonia, before moving to the UK as a teenager. She studied illustration at Falmouth College of Art, specialising in dry point engraving in the last year of her degree. Forshall identifies conservation as a central concern in her artistic practice and has always drawn upon the natural world for inspiration.
Forshall spent time as artist in residence with the Cambridge Conservation Initiative, which is a growing collaboration between researchers, policy makers and practitioners from the University of Cambridge and leading biodiversity conservation organisations. Alongside the specialists within CCI, she has worked on an exhibition that is being held in their headquarters, the Attenborough Building.
To date Forshall has worked with the ICUN - International Union for Conservation of Nature, TRAFFIC - the wildlife trade monitoring network, BirdLife International and Flora and Fauna International.
